Sobotec History - 20 years strong

Sobotec was established in 1988 by two brothers, Vladimir and Chedo Sobot, both engineering graduates from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. Their vision: to produce a modern wall system for commercial buildings that projects a high-tech and visually appealing facade.

With determination and a well-defined goal, Sobotec began using Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) to create their wall systems. As product knowledge on ACM grew, it rapidly became recognized as an ideal choice for re-imaging and corporate identity programs. Sobotec's reputation for state-of-the-art work with ACM and its commitment to customer service grew along with it.

Development engineers at Sobotec effectively began standardizing their wall systems. The dry-joint rainscreen system quickly became a Sobotec specialty because of its watertight weather resistance. The unique company trademark of install panels without using caulking to seal joints is another reason Sobotec is international recognition as one of the world's largest manufacturers of ACM panel systems.

Sobotec takes on projects of all sizes, ranging from canopies and building entrances to multi-million dollar re-imaging programs. The award-winning Windsor Casino development is the largest project to date. Within 16 months Sobotec supplied 375,000 sq. ft. of panels; a custom panel system was specifically designed for this project and is now available as the SL-4000 standard.

The sky is the limit for Sobotec

This closely knit family-run company still does business with the same traditional family values it started with. Today it employs hundreds of dedicated men and women -- quite a jump from the original five -- and plant space is now an impressive 72,000 sq. ft., up from 5,000 sq. ft. As ACM applications become more evident in architecture and new panel finishes become available, it seems the sky really is the limit for Sobotec.
